Position Summary

This position is in the Cath Lab
Clinical ladder opportunities available for advancement!
  • Patient preparation: Preparing patients for electrophysiology procedures, including explaining the process, obtaining informed consent, and monitoring vital signs.

  • Equipment setup and operation:
    Setting up and calibrating specialized electrophysiology equipment such as catheters, mapping systems, and stimulators, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Catheter placement:
    Assisting the cardiologist by positioning cardiac catheters within the heart chambers to accurately record electrical activity.
  • Electrogram interpretation:
    Monitoring and interpreting real-time electrocardiogram (ECG) readings during procedures, identifying abnormal rhythms and notifying the physician.
  • Data recording and analysis:
    Recording and documenting procedural data, including electrograms, hemodynamic measurements, and fluoroscopic images.
  • Aseptic technique:
    Maintaining sterile conditions in the EP lab throughout procedures.
  • Patient monitoring:
    Closely observing patient vital signs during procedures, identifying any complications and taking immediate action if necessary.
  • Communication with the team:
    Clearly communicating information to the cardiologist and other healthcare team members regarding patient status and procedural progress.

Qualifications
CV Specialist Qualifications (RN, Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic, Radiology Tech)
  • Two-year Allied Health program or 1 year Certificate in Surgical Technology or Associate Degree in Nursing (RN), Special Procedures, Respiratory Therapy, Paramedic, Radiology Technology with board eligibility.
  • If RN, graduate of an approved School of Nursing with a current NC RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nursing Licensure Compact.
  • Prefer two years in Invasive Cardiovascular Lab with a PTCA program or Critical Care area. BLS and ACLS certified.
