VID Tutorial Facilitator
Greenwood School District 50 - 2025-2026 School Year
Position Summary:
Greenwood School District 50 is seeking dedicated AVID Tutorial Facilitators to support AVID students during their elective classes. Tutors will work under the supervision of the principal and AVID coordinator, with guidance from the AVID elective teacher, to foster academic growth, college readiness, and personal development.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Commitment to supporting AVID students' academic and personal growth.
  • Strong math background (required for math tutorial sessions).
  • Ability to serve as a role model and mentor, demonstrating lifelong learning, appropriate academic and social behaviors, and professional attire.
  • Effective communication skills with students, staff, and coordinators.

Requirements for First-Time Tutors:
  • Complete background check prior to beginning tutoring.
  • Attend 4 hours of paid facilitator training.
  • Submit the following forms and documents:
    • Temporary Employee Recommendation/Volunteer form
    • Application
    • W-4 form
    • Official college transcript (if applicable)
    • TB Test results

Compensation:
  • College and adult tutors: $10.00/hour
  • High school tutors: $7.25/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Support the academic and personal development of AVID students.
  • Review student notes and discussions to identify concepts that need to be taught or reinforced.
  • Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class notes, and textbook notes.
  • Become familiar with AVID Curriculum Libraries and student textbooks.
  • Conduct tutorial sessions across all areas of mathematics.
  • Conduct mini-lessons on writing processes, study skills, and college preparation.
  • Mentor students by setting high expectations and modeling personal excellence.
  • Assist students with all phases of the writing process, including brainstorming, clustering, revising, and editing.
  • Communicate regularly with the AVID coordinator and elective teacher regarding student progress and concerns.
