Job description

Job Summary:

The Navi Gator Mascot Performer is responsible for bringing our beloved character to life through energetic, non-verbal interaction with guests of all ages. This role plays a key part in creating memorable experiences by embodying a fun, friendly, and engaging personality while representing out mission, "We Create Fun". This is an at-will position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Portray the Navi Gator character in a lively, friendly, and energetic manner at all times.
  2. Engage with guests through non-verbal communication including waving, high fives, dancing, hugs and playful movement.
  3. Perform a fun walk, wiggly dance, and animated gestures to entertain crowds.
  4. Interact positively with children, families, and large groups during events, parades and programs.
  5. Always maintain character integrity - never remove any part of the costume in public view.
  6. Follow directions from staff regarding performance timing, routes, and interactions.
  7. Help create a welcoming, inclusive, and fun atmosphere for all participants.
  8. Gain knowledge and understanding of Park District policies and procedures.
  9. Attend District-wide part-time staff orientations, crisis trainings and office trainings as directed.
  10. The District encourages its employees to "take ownership" of the District. As such, it shall be the responsibility of all Park District employees to pick up litter throughout the buildings, grounds and facilities of the District.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age and between 5’0 – 5’6 in height to properly fit into the Navi Gator costume. Must be able to perform in a full-body, furry mascot costume, including walking, waving and dancing.

Schedule & Pay:

This position is a part-time, hourly position.  Hours will vary and may include weekdays, weekends and holidays.  Anticipated hiring range is $15.00 - $15.50/hour PLUS applicable facility and program discounts.
