Parish Administrative Assistant
Our Lady of Redemption Melkite Catholic Church
Location: [Warren, MI] | Full-time / Part-time
Workplace Location: 2 days remote, 3 days on site
Reports to: Rector
About Our Parish
Our Lady of Redemption is a Melkite Rite Catholic Church with a vibrant 100 year history in the city of Detroit. We are seeking a reliable, organized, confident, and faith-filled individual to serve as the backbone of our daily parish operations.
Position Summary
The Parish Administrative Assistant provides essential administrative, operational, and communications support to the Rector, staff, committees, and parishioners. This role ensures efficient office management, financial stewardship, facility operations, and clear communication so that the parish can flourish.
Key Responsibilities
Office & Administrative Operations
Manage daily parish office functions, including phone and email inquiries, scheduling, and welcoming visitors.
Provide high-level administrative support to the Pastor and parish leadership.
Assist with volunteer coordination and basic HR tasks, including payroll, onboarding, and VIRTUS compliance.
Finance & Records
Support financial administration: process donations, perform basic bookkeeping in QuickBooks, pay bills, prepare reports, and collaborate with the Accountant and Finance Committee.
Maintain accurate parish records, including church databases (CCB, Flocknote), Sacrament records, Memorial Intentions, and financial files.
Communications & Events
Coordinate parish communications: produce weekly bulletins, newsletters, website and social media updates, mass emails/mailings, and donation envelopes.
Support parish events, weddings, funerals, and baptisms, including collaboration with volunteers and vendors, registration oversight, and on-site assistance as needed.
Facilities, Supplies & Building Care
In collaboration with the Building Management and Committees, maintain inventory of kitchen, candle, office, and other supplies; place regular orders and manage vendor relationships.
Assist with building care and development: problem-solve issues, obtain vendor quotes, and prepare proposals based on the Finance and Building Committee recommendations for the Pastor's approval.
Oversee security camera footage, prepare reports, and collaborate with volunteers on security matters.
Respond to pastoral and facility emergencies (e.g., requests for Holy Anointing, death announcements, power outages, security issues, or equipment failures).
Liaison & Strategic Support
Serve as the primary liaison with Eparchy offices, volunteers, vendors, and contractors.
Support community and building development campaigns and initiatives (e.g., stained glass windows, museum, risk management).
Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace,
  • Proficiency in church database systems,
  • Proficiency in basic accounting (QuickBooks experience preferred).
  • Previous experience in church, nonprofit, or office administration is strongly preferred.
  • Active, practicing Catholic with a good understanding of parish operations and Catholic Church structure.
  • High degree of discretion, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Warm, professional demeanor and a collaborative, and generous spirit.
