Job description

  1. POSITION PURPOSE

The Communications Coordinator supports the operations of the parish family with reception, communication, scheduling as well as managing the coordination of events for the office and parish. The Communications Coordinator supports the parish database and other administrative tools.

  1. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
    1. Collaborates with Pastor, staff and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
    2. Assures a hospitable and welcoming presence for parish visitors, providing appropriate assistance and/or referral to visitors. Answers telephone and assures accurate and prompt transmission of messages.
    3. Provides general information to persons calling or visiting the parish. Utilizes other church, social service, community and/or government directories to provide accurate and helpful information to persons.
    4. Manage and regularly update the parish family website(s).
    5. Create and schedule content for communications platforms to promote parish life (e.g. Flocknote, Instagram, Youtube etc.) including graphics, captions and basic video content. Track and report reach of communications platforms.
    6. Design flyers, posters, newsletters, and promotional materials for parish events.
    7. Maintains the parish facility schedule. Directs groups on facility use responsibilities, rental fees, insurance coverage, and manages conflicts that may arise. Coordinates the rental collection and monitoring of facility keys. Coordinates facility support and supervision when used by outside groups.
    8. Coordinates with other parish staff to support and communicate events scheduled at the parish.
    9. Maintains parish database records using Parish Staq and other database and records management tools. This includes management of parish registration, sacramental records, archives, mailing lists, and envelope distribution.
    10. Opens and closes parish office. Oversees maintenance of office workroom and office equipment supply.
    11. Oversees routing of mail and correspondence.
    12. Provide administrative services in support of the parish, various ministries, and activities as needed
    13. Coordinate office activities and operations to ensure efficiency.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

ย Primary:

  • Willingness to work as part of the parish staff team to accomplish the mission of the parish
  • Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained ministers.
  • Active member of a parish/faith community and in good standing with the Church

Experience:

  • Experience in data base management, website & newsletter content creation, and communications expertise.
  • Experience with leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of, or strong willingness to learn, Catholic parish structures and organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people, including multicultural communities

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicantโ€™s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
