Description
The Data Product Ownerpartners directly with clients to identify, shape, and deliver high-value data, analytics, and AI initiatives. This role is responsible for helping stakeholders envision what's possible with their data, translating that vision into actionable backlogs, and guiding delivery teams to execute impactful solutions.
This is not a traditional Product Owner role tied to a single software product. Instead, this position leads service-based analytics delivery across multiple clients - focusing on shaping demand, guiding stakeholders, and leading a team of consultants.
Requirements
  • 5+ years in analytics, data strategy, software development, or BI / AI solution delivery, with experience in consulting or a client-facing role
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders and executives
  • Experience translating business problems or opportunities into analytics initiatives
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms and desire to explore AI technologies
  • Proven track record in operational efficiency, innovation, and client relationship management
  • Experience leading and supporting complex projects & a multi-client delivery environment
  • Skilled in building collaboration, addressing conflict with empathy, and turning challenges into opportunities for alignment
  • Experience in service delivery, process improvement, and resource management
  • Exceptional client communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage technical teams, business stakeholders, and executives
  • Strong facilitation and discovery skills
  • Reside within proximity of the Indianapolis market, or be willing to travel quarterly for client visits
Responsibilities
  • Client Leadership & Opportunity Shaping
    • Partner with client stakeholders, end users, and executives to understand (or define) goals, challenges, and opportunities
    • Lead conversations that help stakeholders envision new possibilities with data analytics, automation, and AI
    • Educate clients on possibilities across:
      • Dashboards & data visualization
      • Automation & workflow optimization
      • AI / ML use cases
      • Data platform modernization
    • Translate business needs into analytics initiatives and prioritized backlogs
  • Backlog & Value Management
    • Define and maintain outcome-driven delivery backlogs across multiple clients
    • Prioritize work based on business value, feasibility, and strategic alignment
    • Ensure teams are focused on solving real problems - not just executing requests
    • Continuously identify new opportunities to expand impact and value
  • Delivery Alignment
    • Partner with technical leads and delivery teams to translate opportunities into execution
    • Guide solution direction and ensure delivery
    • Serve as the bridge between stakeholders and delivery teams
    • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build strong relationships with client leaders and users
    • Communicate progress, insights, and recommendations
    • Help organizations mature in their use of data and analytics
    • Drive adoption and change management
  • Demand Generation
    • Proactively identify new use cases and opportunities
    • Help clients envision what "next" looks like
    • Expand engagement scope through value-based conversations
  • Traits
    • Curious and opportunity-oriented
    • Comfortable leading and influencing
    • Value-driven mindset
    • Strategic and innovative
    • Strong executive presence
    • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and shaping direction
  • Success Measures
    • Growth of data backlog and client demand
    • Stakeholder satisfaction and trust
    • Adoption of delivered solutions
    • Delivery team clarity and alignment
