Job description

Kforce's client in Charleston, SC is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, audit preparation, and internal controls for a multi-location organization. This role will manage a small accounting team, support month-end close, budgeting, and variance analysis, while ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a strong accounting leader who can work independently, drive results, and support future process and system improvements. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, cash management, and general ledger activities Manage and mentor a small accounting team Lead month-end and year-end close processes Prepare financial statements, P&L reporting, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors Maintain internal controls, reconciliations, and cutoff procedures Monitor inventory accounting and project-based accounting activities Analyze cost versus revenue performance and provide recommendations to leadership Support multi-location accounting operations and reporting Assist with ERP/system implementations and process improvements Partner with leadership to support business and financial initiatives Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accounting leadership experience Multi-location accounting experience Audit and audit preparation experience Experience managing and developing accounting teams Strong general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliation experience Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications: Food service, hospitality, distribution, or related industry experience Rental business experience ERP implementation experience Key Skills: Financial Reporting General Ledger Accounting Budgeting & Forecasting Audit Preparation Internal Controls Inventory Accounting Project Accounting Cash Management Multi-Location Accounting Variance Analysis Team Leadership ERP Implementations Month-End Close Process Improvement The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
