Interim Controller – Chicopee, MA

We're partnering with a well-established organization in the Chicopee area that is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to join its finance team. This Controller opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys leading people, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, and stepping into a collaborative environment where they can make an immediate impact.

As the Controller, you will oversee the organization's accounting functions while managing a team of approximately seven employees across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Accounting. The Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, support month-end close activities, maintain internal controls, and help keep the finance department running smoothly.

This Controller role offers the opportunity to lead an experienced team, partner with leadership on financial operations, and identify opportunities for process improvements when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting department and manage a team of approximately seven employees

  • Oversee AP, AR, Payroll, General Accounting, and related accounting functions

  • Manage month-end close and financial reporting

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure accounting accuracy

  • Support budgeting, reporting, and other finance initiatives

  • Mentor and develop accounting staff while fostering a positive team environment

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

  • Experience leading accounting teams

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to quickly adapt and thrive in an interim leadership role
