Job description

Boom Truck Crane Operator

Nations Roof is a leader in the Commercial Roofing. We are seeking self-motivated individuals who are interested in growing with a company that values safety, teamwork, and long-term career development. Join our team and help us continue to lead the roofing industry.

Position Summary

The Boom Truck Crane Operator is responsible for transporting and safely operating a truck-mounted crane to support commercial roofing and sheet metal projects. This role requires safe equipment setup, precise material placement, and strong teamwork on active construction job sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive truck-mounted crane from warehouse to job sites.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and crane.
  • Safely set up crane for daily operations, including proper outrigger placement and site stabilization.
  • Operate hydraulic crane attachments (humpty, clam, etc.).
  • Interpret load charts to ensure safe lifting practices.
  • Lift, move, and position materials and equipment as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with ground crew using hand signals and/or radios.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain required inspection logs and operational documentation.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or unsafe conditions.
  • Work collaboratively as a TEAM player who gets along well with others.
  • Assist with general labor tasks when crane operation is not required.

Position Requirements

  • NCCCO Certification (NCCO Card) required.
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Prior experience operating and setting up truck-mounted cranes.
  • Strong knowledge of safe rigging and lifting procedures.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical job duties as required.
