Job description

Position: ย Teller/Personal Banker

Department: Teller

Supervisor: ย Branch Manager/AVP Retail Banking Manager

Job Description: ย The teller will provide excellent customer service while efficiently and accurately processing transactions, handling currency, accepting payments, verifying funds and explaining bank products while working in a team environment. Assist Customer by opening accounts

Essential Functions:ย 

  • Receives cash and checks for deposit, verifies amounts, and looks for check endorsements.ย  Examines cash carefully to guard against acceptance of counterfeit bills.
  • Cash checks for customers after verifying identification and checking account balances in accordance with bank policy
  • Open New Account products
  • Enters transactions into computer and issues customer receipts
  • Balance cash against computer records at beginning and ending of shift
  • Issue cashierโ€™s checks, personal money orders, and gift cards
  • Redeem savings bonds for customers only
  • Explains bank services and charges to customers
  • Observes suspicious behavior and report any such activity
  • Assists customers in opening accounts and general customer service
  • Balance coin machine, vault balancing including cash sales and money ordering
  • Process deposits and payment transactions through back counter
  • Process the renting, accessing and closing of safe deposit boxes
  • Greet and refer customers to appropriate bank personnel to meet their financial needs.
  • All other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Prior banking experience is preferred.
  • Active Listening โ€“ Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Communication Skills โ€“ The ability to communicate effectively
  • Mathematics โ€“ using mathematics to solve problems
  • Problem Solving Skills โ€“ The ability to find resolution to problems in an efficient, practical manner
  • Time Management โ€“ managing oneโ€™s own time and the time of others within the group
  • Administrative skills โ€“ basic computer skills including 10 key experience

Education/Training:ย  High School Diploma (GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).ย  Must have cash handling and customer service experience.ย  Banking experience preferred.ย 

Hourly full time position 35 to 40 hours per week with varying hours Monday through Friday and rotating Saturday.
