Job Title: Child Development Specialist - Early Start Program (BDI Assessor)

Job Type: Full-time and Part-Time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour

*This role uses a split-rate compensation structure. Billable client service hours are paid at a higher hourly rate, while non-billable hours—including training, drive time, admin tasks, and required meetings—are compensated at a separate hourly rate.*

We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join our clinical team in the Bay Area to provide play-based therapy to children under the age of three years old. We are seeking a Child Development Specialist to conduct developmental assessments for infants and toddlers (0–3 years) as part of California’s Early Start Program. Evaluations are conducted in the child’s home and completed in collaboration with a licensed therapist using the Battelle Developmental Inventory (BDI-2).

This is a great opportunity for professionals who enjoy working with young children and families while maintaining a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-home developmental assessments for children ages birth to 3
  • Administer and score the Battelle Developmental Inventory (BDI-2)
  • Collaborate with a licensed therapist during evaluations
  • Observe developmental skills across cognitive, communication, motor, social-emotional, and adaptive domains
  • Interview caregivers and gather developmental history
  • Complete written assessment reports within required timelines
  • Travel between family homes throughout the service area

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Human Development, Special Education, or related field
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers (0-3)
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and milestones

Preferred:

  • Experience with Early Start or Regional Center programs
  • Experience administering BDI-2
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

Position Details:

Requirements:

  • Have reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various home-based sites throughout the day
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of current Vehicle Insurance Registration, and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain DOJ background clearance.
  • Willing to obtain CPR certification
  • Obtain and provide current negative TB test
  • Ability to walk, run, tolerate prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, crawling, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
  • Ability to travel to multiple homes per day
