Description
To assist in supervising, assigning and reviewing the work of staff responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment plant facilities; to oversee and participate in all work activities; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Duties
  • Assist in planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising and reviewing the work of staff responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City's wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; assist in implementing approved policies and procedures.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing wastewater treatment services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Assist in the selection of wastewater treatment plant staff; work with employees to correct deficiencies; recommend discipline procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of the wastewater treatment plant budget; submit budget recommendations; complete purchase requisitions; monitor expenditures.
  • Review various analyses and reports and make recommendations.
  • Assist in preparing analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
  • Assist in ordering parts, equipment, and chemicals for the wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED,
  • Four years of increasingly responsible experience working in water or wastewater treatment.

Certificates and Licenses:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Possession of a Wastewater Operator License, Class "B" or higher, issued by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive wastewater treatment program.
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of wastewater treatment.
  • Principles of municipal budget preparation and control.
  • Principles of procedures of record keeping and reporting.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.

This job has been classified as a "safety sensitive" position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. In this position, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which might include random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a Medical Marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for Marijuana.
