Job description

Overview

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is recruiting a pediatric infectious diseases physician at the assistant or associate professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role involves inpatient consultation, ambulatory clinic referrals, and attending on the inpatient Infectious Diseases service. Faculty will participate in academic and scholarly work, including clinical and translational research, quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration across multiple programs.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct patient assessments and diagnose medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicate with patients and their families to provide education and support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.
Education and Training

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent required. Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable required.

Licensure

Medical License in the State of Ohio required. Unrestricted licensed physician required.

Certifications

Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics required.

Skills and Experience

Prior clinical practice experience may be required based on the needs of the division.

Physical Requirements
  • Bend/twist occasional, 0-10 lb lifting, 11-20 lb lifting, 21-40 lb lifting, flexing/extending neck, fume/vapor exposure.
  • Reaching above shoulder, pushing/pulling 0-25 lbs, squatting/kneeling frequently.
  • Continuous: audible speech, color vision, depth perception, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, seeing far/near.
  • Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with assistance if needed.
