Job description

The Ohioan Hotel and Event Center (Formally Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center) located in Lewis Center, Ohio is searching for a Pub. We are offering a $500 sign on bonus!

Job Summary:

As a Pub Bartender, your primary responsibilities evolve around the guest experience. In Food Service, there are both service and product knowledge expectations, with a significant focus on maintaining a hospitable mindset. The team serves a combination of both Food & Beverage and does so in a variety of different venues with a focus on the Pub.

Essential Functions:

  1. Greet guests pleasantly when they enter the Pub; promotes menu and utilizes upselling whenever possible to maximize revenues.
  2. Prepare beverages requested by patrons or team members according to standing operating procedures establishing proper portions and ingredients to control costs and provide a consistent product to the guests.
  3. Anticipate and be aware of guest needs in order to provide high quality service and high guest satisfaction. Continually stock and maintain items to meet the demands of the guests while adhering to all presentation standards.
  4. Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service should cease; taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking or ordering taxis for intoxicated patrons; notifies management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers; checks identification to verify age requirements.
  5. Take food orders directly from patrons.
  6. Operating point of sale system, collecting payment, and balancing cash receipts.
  7. Ensure Pub space is kept clean throughout the shift, as well as completed specified beginning and end of shift tasks to include daily and weekly duties.
  8. Keep all items stocked, observing items for freshness and quality standard.

Physical Requirements:

These physical demands represent the physical requirements necessary for an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the position.

  1. Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull heavy workloads, exert up to 100 pounds of force and the ability to regularly lift 55 lbs.
  2. Position requires standing for entire shift.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
  2. Must be TIPS Certified or willing to obtain.
  3. Previous POS usage is preferred.
  4. Excellent communication, marketing, and sales skills.
  5. Specialized knowledge of bartending and mixing drinks.
  6. Prior experience working in an upscale bar.
  7. Guest-centric mentality with superior customer service.
  8. Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  9. High school diploma.
