Job description

The Opportunity:

The Houseperson - Event Set Up is responsible for preparing, arranging, and maintaining event spaces to ensure successful execution of meetings, banquets, weddings, and other special events. This role supports the setup and breakdown of event facilities, including tables, chairs, linens, staging, and equipment, while ensuring all areas are clean, organized, and guest-ready. The Houseperson collaborates closely with Event Coordinators, Banquet staff, and other departments to meet event specifications and deliver exceptional guest service. The position requires the ability to perform physical labor, work flexible schedules, and maintain compliance with all safety and sanitation standards.
 

The person having this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, Housepersons must develop and maintain the company's culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.

Key Responsibilities:  

    Set up and break down event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and other equipment.
    Ensure all event areas are clean, organized, and ready for use.
    Assist with the placement and setup of audio-visual equipment as needed.
    Maintain inventory of event supplies and report any shortages or damages.
    Collaborate with event coordinators and other staff to meet the specific needs of each event.
    Provide excellent customer service to guests, addressing any questions or concerns promptly.
    Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Event Service Manager or Event Coordinator.
 

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision. 

Qualifications:

    1 year experience in event setup or a similar role is preferred.
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
    Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays and the occasional overnight shift.
    Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
    Must be at least 18 years old.
    Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
    Ability to bend, stoop, lift and move heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
    Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings.
