Job Description
Barkera is seeking a content curator, editor, and blogger to join our fast-paced team. Hands on Training will include researching, sourcing, proofreading, editing, and helping to create fresh new content surrounding topics associated to the Pet Industry. Students will learn valuable skills in web content creation, strategy and basic web development.
Attention to detail is essential! Ensuring the information is factually accurate by validating with Barkera's expert team, incorporating the proper keywords and SEO structure (if applicable) Interns will possess the ability to turn a mundane topic into something interesting and connect emotionally with the reader. Ideal qualities include being self-motivated, able to work independently, a fast learner, with a positive attitude, and strong grammar skills.
Opportunities to Learn:
Writer
Barkera's writer position is an individual who produces copy for the website and other online platforms within Barkera's ecosystem. The individual must adhere to the style and tone set forth by the publisher. Barkera's intern will be assigned responsibilities by our executive team and will be provided a direction and strategy to research, develop and establish a solid content portfolio.
Copy Editor
As this is a dual-role position, as a copy editor the intern will also make sure the style, tone, and grammar of the content is in line with the company vision. It is imperative the copy editor focus solely on making sure there are no errors in the content/publication throughout multiple mediums.
Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with posting/publishing blogs and creating social media posts is a plus but not required
  • Ability to use Web 3 platforms
  • Work with our team of experts to effectively source questions to research baseline content
  • Strong desire to learn new skills along with a professional drive
  • Ability to own projects, manage tasks and meet timelines/goals
  • Broad knowledge of headlines
  • Ability to gather, write and edit content from various sources
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving business strategies, write scripts, case studies, and web content, and re-write content as necessary
  • Editing skills-checking accuracy, balance, language, style
  • Solid understanding of different writing techniques
  • Excellent grammar, verbal, and written communication skills
  • A portfolio of published articles, newscasts etc is a plus
  • Academic work is a priority
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to manage hours and provide weekly status reports
  • Required to track time and present anticipated hours available weekly
  • Working environment: Home office, On Campus, and must have access to a computer with internet

This is a remote role with meetings that may occur in the Broward Center of Innovation or Online Meetings
