Job description

Set the Tone. Lead the Flow. Welcome with Confidence.

At Hellas Restaurant and Bakery, we believe the host stand is where exceptional dining experiences begin. We are seeking a professional, polished, and dependable Host or Hostess who brings maturity, strong communication skills, and poise to a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

As the first and lasting impression of our restaurant, this role requires someone who understands that hospitality is both an art and a skill — someone who can combine grace under pressure with the ability to lead the flow of the dining room with ease.

If you're an experienced host or hostess looking for a role that respects your expertise, encourages professional pride, and offers room to grow, we invite you to apply.

Who We Are

For over 50 years, Hellas Bakery & Pita has been a family-owned tradition in the heart of Tarpon Springs, Florida. We’re known for our authentic Greek cuisine, world-famous bakery, and warm, welcoming hospitality. Our team is a close-knit group that values respect, tradition, and teamwork. Many of our guests have been dining with us for generations — and the same goes for our staff.

What You’ll Do as a Host/Hostess

  • Warmly welcome guests with confidence, professionalism, and a sense of hospitality.
  • Manage table assignments and reservations using Seven Rooms or similar systems.
  • Maintain calm and order at the host stand—even during peak times.
  • Answer phones and guest inquiries with clarity, patience, and professionalism.
  • Keep the entrance and lobby area clean, organized, and inviting.
  • Communicate clearly with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Step up to assist with guest concerns, checkouts, or team support when needed.
  • Set the example in punctuality, appearance, and professionalism.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a host/hostess in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Familiarity with digital table management systems (Seven Rooms preferred).
  • Excellent phone and in-person communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and polished appearance.
  • Calm and capable in high-pressure situations.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be 18+ and able to obtain a Food Safety Certification within 60 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand or walk for the duration of your shift.
  • Occasionally lift or move 25–50 lbs.
  • Visual acuity for reading screens, seating charts, and guest cues.

Why Experienced Professionals Choose Hellas

  • Starting pay: $18/hour, based on experience
  • Discounted shift meals
  • Full-time employees enjoy comprehensive benefits, including:
  • Health insurance with generous employer contribution
  • Dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options
  • Pet insurance & discounts (FT & PT)
  • 401 K Opportunity
  • Health reward and wellness programs
  • Financial fitness and planning support
  • Employee assistance programs for work-life balance
  • Growth opportunities for those who want to advance
  • Supportive, team-oriented culture that values dependability and experience
