Job description

The Working Supervisor, Hospitality position exists to oversee the hospitality staff and ensures team members are properly trained to serve couples, groups, events, etc. during their time at Focus Marriage Institute (FMI).

This position offers a $500 hiring bonus. The bonus will be paid to the hired candidate half after 30 days ($250) and half upon the successful completion of 6 months of work ($250). Employees must be active and in good standing at the time of bonus payout to be eligible for hiring bonuses.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Is responsible for the daily Hospitality operations, ensuring FMI provides each guest with an experience that is characterized by highly attentive service, excellent food, and beverages, in a clean and welcoming environment
  • Assigns and oversees the duties of the Hospitality staff as scheduled by the General Manager
  • Develops and trains staff on established FMI standards and procedures for Hospitality service and physical spaces
  • Orders all food, cleaning, and basic housekeeping supplies. Works with General Manager to order small appliances and serving wares
  • Notifies General Manager of all equipment and mechanical issues within kitchen spaces and interacts with vendors as needed
  • Maintains an excellent working relationship with all Host Couples and works with General Manager to ensure Host Couples are ServSafe certified food handlers and properly trained in FMI’s hospitality standards
  • Oversees and maintains the cleanliness of all interior and exterior hospitality spaces, including decks and patios
  • Is sensitive to know when areas are off limits for cleaning due to noise
  • Develops and trains staff on procedures for cooking, service, food handling, and safety that are compliant with standards set by the local Health Department. Ensures that all Hospitality Assistants are trained in ServSafe and other required training programs as necessary
  • Serves as primary Health Department contact and is responsible for correcting any deficiencies identified during inspections
  • Is responsible for using the forecasted volume of guests to plan menu selection and quantity of food to be ordered
  • Develops menus that are appropriate for each season and analyzes the costs to ensure meals are provided within budgeted guidelines
  • Identifies and maintains excellent relationships with the appropriate food vendors to purchase food items. Based on the scheduled volume of couples, makes food purchases, and maintains the appropriate inventories of food to successfully serve guests
  • Manages the ever-increasing special needs of guests that range from preference to life-threatening food allergies. Communicates with guests as needed before arrival and during stay to insure we are serving those with health-related needs in a safe manner. Informs the Hospitality team of these special needs to ensure the wellbeing and experience of guests
  • Writes menus, orders food, and prepares meals for larger special events that may include donor development, recruiting, and community events
  • Ensures Hospitality work area is clean, well maintained, and free of safety hazards
  • Is attentive to the condition of the physical property and systems and quickly reports all maintenance concerns to the General Manager
  • Is fully trained in the established housekeeping standards for all guest spaces, assists with housekeeping as requested, and leads in word and example, all staff members in the importance of maintaining these high standards

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

 

  • Must be able to pass a Post Offer Prehire Physical exam
  • Must be able to stand for long periods
  • Some exposure to fumes and hot items
  • Some moving and lifting of heavy items
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 25lbs
  • Must be able to bend and reach above head
  • Occasional holiday and weekend work is required

Knowledge/Experience:

 

  • High school diploma
     
  • 2-4 years of experience in dealing with the public and in food preparation and management
  • Must have ServSafe and Chemical Training certifications
  • Supervisory experience helpful

  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels
  • Ability to use judgment to solve semi-complex problems

Pay Range: $19.30 to $26.21
