Senior Interior Designer – Hospitality (Salt Lake City, UT or Honolulu, HI)Overview

VCBO Architecture is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Interior Designer to lead interior design components for hospitality-focused projects across a range of project types. This position may be based in either our Salt Lake City, Utah or Honolulu, Hawaii office, and is ideal for a professional with a strong foundation in design, documentation, and project leadership within a collaborative team environment.

You’ll work with a high level of autonomy, contribute to project outcomes across all phases, and support design quality, client relationships, and team performance, with an emphasis on creating thoughtful, high-quality guest environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead interior design components, including concepts, space planning, and finish palettes with a focus on hospitality environments and guest experience
  • Oversee design development and production of construction documents, including plans, elevations, millwork, and schedules
  • Translate client and brand requirements into cohesive, functional, and high-quality design solutions
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, vendors, and contractors across all project phases
  • Ensure alignment between design intent, documentation, and overall project outcomes
  • Support construction administration efforts, including site visits, submittals, and RFIs
  • Research and specify furniture, finishes, and materials, including FF&E selection and coordination, with attention to durability, budget, and aesthetics
  • Lead client presentations and support communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Mentor and guide junior staff while contributing to overall team organization and project delivery
  • Contribute to design standards, best practices, and continuous improvement within the studio
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Typically 7+ years of professional interior design experience
  • NCIDQ Certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit; strong visual communication and presentation skills
  • Experience leading projects across multiple phases, from concept through construction
  • Experience with hospitality design and/or brand-driven environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of materials, detailing, and interior building systems
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
