Job description

Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports to: General Manager
Overview:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping all mechanical equipment in good repair by providing daily maintenance. The Maintenance Engineer must perform routine preventative maintenance duties, be willing to train and assist others, analyze problems and formulate plans, coordinate with outside vendors as needed, read and interpret documents such as the maintenance manual and forms, and continually support and improve the maintenance issues that address both the staff and guests.
While performing duties of this position, the associate is regularly required to walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, talk, hear, and be on their feet for long periods of time. The associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or use a ladder. The position does require close vision, distance vision, reasonable color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The maintenance engineer must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and sometimes more. Must have a valid drivers license, Proof of insurance and pass as approved driver.
Key Job Functions:
The job functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. While the maintenance engineer is required to follow all guidelines and procedures set forth in the Hospitality Specialists Inc. Maintenance Manual, the essential duties and responsibilities will change with demand and happenings at the hotel on any given day. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Guest Rooms Completing all preventative maintenance measures related to the guest room. Repairing all items, as needed. Performing routine maintenance requests, such as plunging toilets, maintaining HVAC equipment, programming TVs, etc.
  • Public Areas Completing all preventative maintenance measures related to the public area space. Repairing all items, as needed. Performing routine maintenance requests, such as plunging toilets, maintaining HVAC equipment, programming TVs, etc.
  • Fire Alarm/Life Safety System Be fully aware of the system operation and handling emergencies involving the system. Have a working knowledge of the fire sprinkler, all mechanical shut-offs and emergency power systems.
  • Tools Maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. Ensure that all tools are used correctly, only on-site for hotel needs, and secured properly in the maintenance shop in proper storage.
  • Emergencies Be available for any emergencies to protect our guests and staff, preserve the building and its systems, return the building to normal operating status and keep all key players informed of all activities.
  • Accident Prevention and Safety Focus on working in an accident-free manner and creating a safe work environment for others. Continuously looks for hazardous conditions and take appropriate action to correct issues.
  • Records Maintain all required logs, checklists, inventories, forms, work order systems and documents required by both Hospitality Specialists, Inc, local governing bodies and the designated brand. Maintain current mechanical vendor lists to ensure timely and accurate response to issues that require an outside vendor.
  • General Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner. Maintain frequent communication with supervisor and team members. Ensure that all needed materials are available or on order. Comply with budget guidelines for the maintenance department. Provide training and/or technical advice to other maintenance engineers, as needed or requested.
  • Be aware of current guest service scores, and be able to understand guest comments and needs. Be an active participant in achieving the GSS goals of the hotel.
  • Must have a valid drivers license, Proof of insurance and pass as approved driver.
  • All other duties as assigned.
