We are seeking a PT Porter for ourEast Meadow Store! Bring your great, customer serving attitude and teamwork ethics to Uncle Giuseppe's and join the team!

Porters are primarily responsible for cleaning, sweeping up trash, mopping, or vacuuming floors, scrubbing walls and windows, and removing garbage. Porters may also do minor repairs and take on quick tasks, from transporting items to restocking supplies. This individual will maintain the cleanliness and safety of the building, looking out for possible safety hazards. Physical stamina is essential, as porters remain standing throughout their entire shift. They may work on evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

Maintain Cleanliness

Porters at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace spend much of their time maintaining the cleanliness of our Store. This entails using various cleaning techniques such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting.

Monitor Inventory

Since they handle cleaning equipment, porters at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace are responsible for monitoring the inventory, taking note of missing cleaning supplies and notifying management if additional stock is necessary. This extends to items such as tissue rolls in bathrooms, cleaning supplies, etc.

  • Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
  • May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
  • Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
  • There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
