Hospital Pharmacy Technician
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient pharmacy operations at Sakakawea Medical Center. This role focuses on safe and efficient medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management within a hospital environment. The technician will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and collaborate with both clinical and non-clinical departments such as nursing, purchasing, and accounts payable.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare, label, and unit dose inpatient medications in accordance with hospital protocols
- Restock and maintain automated dispensing cabinets (Omnicell) in patient care areas
- Conduct inventory checks and assist with receiving and stocking medications
- Assists with billing related functions
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory and safety standards
- Communicate effectively with nursing and other departments regarding medication needs
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Active Pharmacy Technician license (as required by ND state regulations)
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems and automated dispensing technology preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a healthcare team
