Job description

Reports to the Dietary Director:

Full Pay Range: $17.50- $23.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking areas in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner.

  • Prepare a variety of flavorful meals in large quantities while following portion control guidelines.

  • Accurately prepare special diets as required.

  • Record food temperatures for all meals.

  • Prepare pureed foods as needed.

  • Maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets.

  • Assist with serving meals and ensuring resident satisfaction.

  • Clean cooking areas and serving carts after meal service.

  • Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing.

  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.

  • Ensure food presentation is appealing to residents.

  • Work collaboratively with personnel across all departments.

  • Adhere to cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with sanitation standards.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures and recipes.

  • Effectively communicate with managers and employees.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
