Job description

The Insurance Verification Specialist ensures an excellent patient experience by accurately verifying patient eligibility and insurance plan benefits. This role involves utilizing online resources, contacting insurance carriers, and completing benefit investigation forms within the EMR system. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient eligibility and insurance benefits through online payer portals and direct calls to insurance companies.

  • Accurately complete benefit verification forms in the EMR system.

  • Follow established department procedures to ensure benefit investigations are completed in a timely manner.

  • Communicate with internal Patient Financial Services staff and external practice managers to resolve discrepancies in demographic or insurance information.

  • Review, update, and maintain accurate demographic and insurance data in the EMR system.

  • Support and actively participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing individual, departmental, and organizational performance.

Experience:

  • 1 year of work experience in Medical Insurance Verification is required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required - some college preferred
