Associate Chief Medical Information Officer Summary:
  • Reporting to the CMIO, the Associate CMIO will work to optimize the value of information systems across BayCare Health System.
  • The role will require the ability to work with a broad constituency of leaders from clinical medicine, hospital and clinic operations, legal, compliance, finance, ethics, etc. to liaise with Information Services team members and outside vendors.
  • The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the technical side of Health Information Technology coupled with high emotional intelligence and the capacity to successfully navigate a matrixed environment to achieve established goals and objectives.
  • As part of an academic medical center, the Associate CMIO will also contribute to education and research efforts related to clinical informatics.

Informatics Leadership
  • Partner with clinical leaders, IT, and operational teams to align informatics initiatives with strategic goals including the optimization of existing technologies and the thoughtful integration of mobile health technologies and emerging tools in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Champion usability improvements and provider satisfaction with digital tools in clinical practices.
Clinical Engagement & Change Management
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between clinicians and IT teams. Facilitate user feedback sessions, workflow assessments, and training initiatives.
  • Promote adoption of evidence-based tools and data-driven decision-making.
Education & Mentorship
  • Provide informatics education to medical students, residents, and faculty.
  • Mentor emerging clinical informaticians and support academic scholarship in informatics.
Data & Analytics
  • Ensure data integrity and appropriate use of clinical data for research and performance measurement.
Governance & Strategy
  • Participate in governance committees and informatics steering groups.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for digital health initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and informatics best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education - Doctorate - Medical Doctor; Or - Doctorate - Osteopathic Medicine
Required Experience :
  • Minimum 3 years experience working specifically in a healthcare informatics leadership role.
  • Minimum 3 years general leadership experience with evidence of leading complex change and people within an organization.
  • 3-5 years of successful collaboration with executives and physician colleagues required.
  • 3-5 years of expertise sought includes project management and change management.
