Job description

CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island, Neb. in 1887. Today, our hospital is a regional referral center, with more than 100 physicians and more than 1,100 team members working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home, where they can be supported by their family, friends, and community.


As our Gift Shop Admin Coordinator at our St. Francis, Grand Island, NE, you will be an integral contributor to our operational success, providing comprehensive support to leadership and ensuring an environment of efficiency and high-quality service.

Every day, you will facilitate the streamlined operation of the office, managing diverse administrative functions and cultivating effective internal and external communication networks.

To be successful in this critical role, you will demonstrate exceptional organizational acumen, a proactive and resourceful approach to problem-solving, and an unwavering commitment to anticipating needs and delivering accurate, timely support.

  • Collect the daily receipts in Gift Shop, prepare deposit, maintain ledger and reconcile envelopes to the cash register. Responsible for recording expenses and income into computer excel sheets, monthly gross sales, inputting monthly budget data and providing a daily breakdown of sales to Finance. Oversee Gift Shop cash register and cash bag with daily confirmation of accuracy and needed bills and coins.
  • Work with Gift Shop Supervisor to create and implement a social media and marketing strategy monthly, keeping up with latest trends. Recognize various hospital staff throughout the year and show appreciation for their contribution to overall team at St Francis through creative events, food sampling etc.
  • Process freight by logging it into the Point of Sale system, price tagging, and putting merchandise onto the sales floor. Includes lifting boxes and getting on ladders to merchandise products. Ongoing organization of the back store room and basement to find items quickly. Report to the Gift Shop Supervisor any out of stock & low inventory items that need to be ordered.
  • Work with entire team to prep for Open House events, creating new displays and resetting the entire store. This includes working over the weekend and possible overtime. Assist with various classes offered in the late afternoon or evening for community outreach.
  • Check website sales and assure prompt delivery, along with updating and processing online orders. Consistently update website, create attractive photos and include accurate descriptions. Report sales and transfer Pay Pal funds as needed.
  • Manage Gift Shop volunteers, covering shifts when volunteers are absent. Actively recruit new volunteers. Train and on board new volunteers to be welcoming to guests, knowledgeable about our products and suggest items to fit their needs.
  • Assist with annual volunteer banquet, Christmas party and other hospital-related events. Attend other community events as a representative of St. Francis.

Required:

  • High School GED General Studies

Preferred: 

  • 1-3 years Two (2) years of retail experience or gift shop experience to include responsibilities in displaying and excellent customer service
