General Summary of Position
The Supervisor of the Hospital Gift oversee daily operations to ensure efficient customer-focused and financially sustainable performance. This role supervises Gift Shop operations to maintain profitability and accurate financial records in collaboration with the Multisite Manager. This Supervisory position provides direct supervision and coordination of volunteers within the Gift Shop to support smooth daily operations and a positive shopping experience. This position manages day-to-day operations and provides leadership and direction to associates ensuring consistent service excellence operational efficiency compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with leadership in the development of department goals objectives policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Answers correspondence and processes returns.
  • Coordinates with the Gift Shop Manager on promotions for holidays and special events through displays decoration and seasonal merchandise.
  • Displays a courteous and helpful attitude towards patrons and ensures the same from the Gift Shop staff and volunteers. Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction and ensures that the Gift Shop is viewed positively throughout the organization.
  • Ensures cleanliness and attractiveness of shop. Notifies housekeeping and maintenance as necessary.
  • Follows established security procedures and monitors to prevent losses.
  • Collaborates with the Gift Shop Manager to oversee bookkeeping services. Assist with the reconciliation of daily reports and bank deposits. Works with Gift Shop Manager to approve bills for Auxiliary Treasurers payment of merchandise purchased.
  • Selects trains orients and maintains schedule of Gift Shop staff and volunteers. Develops standards of performance evaluates performance and conducts performance management planning with input from the Gift Shop Manager. Partners with Employee Relations to manage performance concerns and corrective actions as necessary. Collaborates with the Gift Shop Manager to review programs provide feedback and support discuss new developments and exchange information
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience
  • 1-2 years Supervisory Experience required
  • 1-2 years Buying Experience required
  • 1-2 years Bookkeeping Experience required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of retail operations including merchandising inventory control and point-of-sale systems.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures daily reconciliation and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices particularly in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles related to sales tracking deposits and financial documentation.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and product purchasing to maintain adequate stock and minimuze loss.
  • Knowledge of vendor relations and product sourcing including ordering pricing and evaluating merchandise performance.
  • Merchandising and visual presentation skills to create attractive displays and promote product sales.
  • Communications skills both written and verbal to coordinate with hospital leadership vendors and staff.
  • Organizational and time management skills to oversee daily operations and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the hospital gift shop.
  • Ability to train coach and support staff or volunteers to ensure high levels of service and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records prepare reports and ensure accountability for cash and inventory.
  • Ability to analyze sales performance and adjust merchandising strategies to improve revenue.
