Hospital Analytics information

What is hospital analytics?

Hospital analytics refers to the process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from various hospital operations to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and financial performance. It involves using data-driven tools and techniques to track metrics such as patient outcomes, resource utilization, and costs. By leveraging hospital analytics, healthcare organizations can identify trends, optimize workflows, and make informed decisions that enhance both patient and organizational outcomes.

How does a hospital analytics professional typically collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to drive data-informed decisions?

Hospital Analytics professionals work closely with both clinical staff (such as doctors and nurses) and administrative teams to gather, interpret, and present healthcare data. They translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations, supporting initiatives like patient care improvement, resource allocation, and cost reduction. Frequent collaboration involves attending interdisciplinary meetings, developing custom reports, and training stakeholders on data tools, ensuring that analytics are effectively integrated into decision-making processes. This cross-team interaction is vital for aligning data projects with hospital goals and driving tangible improvements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in hospital analytics, and why are they important?

To succeed in Hospital Analytics, you need strong analytical skills, statistical knowledge, and a background in healthcare data or a related field, often supported by a degree in health informatics, statistics, or data science. Familiarity with data analysis tools like SQL, Python, R, and healthcare information systems such as EHRs is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for interpreting data and conveying insights to stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate analysis, informed decision-making, and improved hospital operations and patient outcomes.

07/24/2026
2000 16th Street, Denver, Colorado, 80202, United States of America
Position Overview DaVita's Hospital Services Group (HSG) is a critical growth engine, delivering life-saving therapies to patients across the country through trusted hospital partnerships. As the healthcare landscape evolves and our service lines expand, so must our financial and operational strategies.
We are seeking a driven FP&A Analyst to help chart the strategic course for our national footprint. This isn't just about managing budgets, it's about leveraging financial data to expand patient access, drive operational excellence, and shape the future of our business. If you are a builder who thrives on transforming complex data into executive-level strategy, this role offers the unique opportunity to directly influence HSG's multi-year trajectory.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Financial Architecture: Own and evolve the core financial engines of the HSG business, driving annual budgeting, long-range strategic planning, and predictive forecasting.
Strategic Business Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to Operations and Field Finance leaders. You will translate complex financial realities into actionable strategies that push the business toward differential results.
Executive Influence: Your work will be highly visible. You will routinely present financial models, variance drivers, and strategic insights directly to the HSG executive team, challenging the status quo and shaping business decisions.
Advanced Analytics & Problem Solving: Navigate ambiguity by building hypothesis-driven analytical frameworks. You will leverage tools like Hyperion Essbase, Anaplan, Tableau, and advanced Excel modeling to solve unstructured operational puzzles.
What You Bring to the Team:
Relevant Experience: 1+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, corporate finance, accounting, or a similar analytical role. Healthcare experience is a plus but not required.
Technical Fluency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling). Experience with enterprise financial and data systems like Hyperion Essbase, Anaplan, or Tableau is strongly preferred.
Analytical Mindset: You are intellectually curious and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You know how to take an unstructured business problem, find the right data, and build a practical solution.
Clear Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills. You have a track record of distilling dense financial data into straightforward, actionable insights for senior leaders.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Logistics: Ability to travel up to 5-10% nationally.
What We'll Provide:
More than just pay, our DaVita Rewards package connects teammates to what matters most. Teammates are eligible to begin receiving benefits on the first day of the month following or coinciding with one month of continuous employment. Below are some of our benefit offerings.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, PTO cash out
  • Support for you and your family: Family resources, EAP counseling sessions, access Headspace®, backup child and elder care, maternity/paternity leave and more
  • Professional development programs: DaVita offers a variety of programs to help strong performers grow within their career and also offers on-demand virtual leadership and development courses through DaVita's online training platform StarLearning.

At DaVita, we strive to be a community first and a company second. We want all teammates to experience DaVita as "a place where I belong." Our goal is to embed belonging into everything we do in our Village, so that it becomes part of who we are. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and comply with state and federal affirmative action requirements. Individuals are recruited, hired, assigned and promoted without regard to race, national origin, religion, age, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
This position will be open for a minimum of three days.
