Job description

Job Summary
The Hose Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling metal hose components and related products in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform GTAW and other required welding processes to fabricate and assemble metal hose components, fittings, and assemblies.
  • Cut hoses to length and attach flanges, fittings, and related components based on job specifications and customer requirements.
  • Interpret job orders, blueprints, and work instructions to determine materials and fabrication methods.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain fabrication equipment, including welding machines, cutting tools, and forming equipment.
  • Cross-train and operate machinery used for gasket and hose production, including cutting, forming, and finishing equipment.
  • Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on hose assemblies to ensure product integrity and detect leaks.
  • Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications using visual inspection and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
  • Maintain accurate quality and production records, including weld certifications and testing documentation.
  • Ensure all work meets company and customer quality standards.
  • Prepare completed orders and documentation for transfer to Packing/Shipping.
  • Deliver finished products and required paperwork to the appropriate departments.
  • Verify completion of daily production tasks within the hose shop.
  • Assist in meeting production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Receive, verify, and stock incoming materials in designated storage locations.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts and maintain accurate material records.
  • Review hose and fitting inventory levels and recommend reorder quantities.
  • Pick required materials such as gaskets, bolts, nuts, and washers for production.
  • Properly store excess materials and dispose of scrap in accordance with procedures.
  • Operate a forklift to move materials as needed (or become certified).
  • Accurately enter job and production data into systems (e.g., Syteline) and maintain logbooks.
  • Successfully completes welding test for certification and Quality Assurance records.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new employees.
Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical instructions.
  • Strong welding and fabrication skills (GTAW preferred).
  • Ability to accurately read measuring tools, including tape measures (down to 1/32"), calipers, and micrometers.
  • Basic math skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills for production tracking systems.
  • Leadership ability and willingness to support team development.
Education
  • Required: GTAW Welding Certificate.
  • Required: Must be able to successfully complete Lamons yearly weld test certification.
Work Experience
  • Required: 1 year of previous experience manufacturing/hose fabrication.
  • Preferred: Previous gasket, bolt, or hose experience.
  • Preferred: Warehouse or fabrication yard or shop experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments.
  • Ability to become forklift certified.
