As an Accounts Receivable Specialist at Horizon, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely revenue collection from insurance plans. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Ensuring timely receipt of payments from insurance providers
  • Identifying and proposing solutions for payment and denial trends
  • Performing accounts receivable follow-up and collections, including submitting replacement claims and appeals
  • Communicating with insurance representatives and handling payer calls to resolve claim processing issues.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of assigned payer processes and updating documentation as needed
  • Leading monthly meetings for assigned payer groups
  • Serving as the subject matter expert and team resource for assigned payers
  • Assisting with month-end processes including write-offs, AR cleanup, and review of unapplied funds

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 6 months of experience with health insurance, including payment application and claiming processes required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with Cerner Millenium is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to provide close attention to detail.

Hours:
This position is full-time, with flexible daytime hours from Monday - Friday.
Compensation
Horizon is consistently evaluating our compensation and benefit packages to ensure we remain competitive. This position starts at an hourly rate of $20.75-$21.75. Compensation adjustments are evaluated annually.
*Please note: this is a grant-funded position.
Physical demands associated with this position include:
  • Sitting for extended periods, alternating between standing and sitting
  • Mobility required with repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Handling light duties, occasionally lifting objects up to 20 pounds
