Job description

The Office of Homeless Services (OHS) withinthe Department of Workforce Services is seeking a Data Program Specialists tosupport the Utah Homeless Management Information System (UHMIS), fundingreporting processes, and the data efforts of Local Homeless Councils (LHCs).UHMIS is a statewide web-based database that is used to track services providedto Utahns experiencing homelessness at non-profits and governmental agenciesacross the state through a contract with a local software vendor. 

Principal Duties:

  • Manage and update UHMIS monitoring procedures, conducting audits and policy reviews across contributing organizations
  • Assist the OHS Data Manager and UHMIS security officer to review monitoring, ensure reporting consistency, and implement data collection standards. 
  • Serve as the primary data specialist for key funding sources, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations, funding source requirements, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with contract owners to define, measure, and review performance metrics for OHS grantees quarterly and annually.
  • Support the creation, analysis, and presentation of major annual federal and state reports 
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and strategic support to state grantees, Local Homeless Councils (LHCs), and Continua of Care. 
  • Provide support and technical assistance to organizations throughout the state; presenting to the Utah Homeless Services Board, Continua of Care, and Local Homeless Councils as requested;
  • Communicate data insights clearly-both verbally and in writing - with organizations' executive leadership and program staff about homelessness data;
