Customer Service Representative

Mendocino Forest Products is seeking a Customer Service Representative to manage a large region of Home Depot clients. This is a home-based position; however the employee will work primarily in the field conducting in-person outreach to Home Depot stores conducting face-to-face engagement to build and maintain relationships. The ideal candidate will reside in the Fremont or San Jose area as the primary work.

This is an exempt position, the base salary for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education, and/or experience. Please keep in mind the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package; Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and company paid Life Insurance.

Responsibilities

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for supporting Mendocino Forest Products' partnership with Home Depot stores throughout the assigned region. This position develops and maintains strong relationships with store managers and associates, provides outstanding customer service, ensures products, signage, and displays are properly maintained, and serves as the primary point of contact between Home Depot and Mendocino Forest Products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular visits to assigned Home Depot stores, providing weekly travel itineraries to the Customer Service Manager.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned Home Depot stores, delivering responsive and professional customer service.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Home Depot store managers, department supervisors, and associates.
  • Maintain product displays, point-of-purchase signage, and merchandising standards to ensure products are well presented.
  • Conduct product knowledge training for Home Depot associates to promote product awareness and sales.
  • Resolve store issues and customer claims promptly while coordinating with internal departments as needed.
  • Support sales growth by monitoring inventory levels, identifying out-of-stock conditions, and recommending replenishment.
  • Inspect lumber quality, address concerns with store personnel, and report quality issues to the appropriate departments.
  • Conduct retail pricing surveys and competitive market comparisons as assigned.
  • Communicate product updates, pricing changes, promotions, and market information to Home Depot store personnel.
  • Represent Mendocino Forest Products at Home Depot and company-sponsored meetings, training sessions, and promotional events.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to store visits, merchandising activities, customer concerns, and market observations.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory and work occasional evenings and weekends as business needs require.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent, Associate degree or higher education desired.
  • Two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and operate vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent driving and travel throughout the assigned territory, including entering and exiting a vehicle multiple times per day.
  • Frequent walking throughout retail stores while inspecting products, displays, and signage.
  • Prolonged standing while conducting store visits, product training, and merchandising activities.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to stock, organize, and maintain displays and signage.
  • Occasional climbing of step stools or ladders in accordance with store safety policies.
  • Frequently lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls product samples, signage, and merchandising materials weighing up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with assistance, if required.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle products, install signage, operate a computer, tablet, or mobile device, and prepare reports.
  • Requires visual acuity to inspect product quality, read labels, pricing, and merchandising materials.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent travel by personal vehicle is required, including extended periods of driving.
  • Regular exposure to warehouse and lumber department environments with varying temperatures, dust, noise, forklifts, and moving equipment.
  • Works around lumber, pallets, and merchandise while following all Home Depot and Mendocino Forest Products safety requirements.
  • Occasional work in outdoor garden and lumber yard areas exposed to changing weather conditions.
