Job description

We grow kids, not just coders.

We are seeking an energetic Part-Time Lead Instructor to join Love to Code Academy for Fall 2026 and run coding and robotics classes while guiding students as they grow through challenge, teamwork, and real responsibility.

This is a part-time role (20–25 hours per week), in-person at our Kansas City location serving K–8 students, with after-school, evening, and occasional weekend hours.

At Love to Code Academy, instructors are coaches of character who create a supportive environment, guide students through challenges, reinforce positive behaviors, and support meaningful student development.

The Lead Instructor is responsible for leading a classroom of K–8 students through hands-on coding and robotics projects, delivering clear instruction while fostering a positive classroom culture and high levels of student engagement. This role also collaborates with supporting instructors, communicates with parents, and works closely with the Program Director to ensure consistency and quality across programs.

This is not a lecture-based role; instructors actively engage with students through hands-on, project-based learning. A structured curriculum is provided, with no lesson planning required.

We are an early-stage program with a strong foundation, and this role plays a direct part in shaping and growing our programs. If you are looking for meaningful work where you can lead, coach, and make a visible impact on students, this is that opportunity.

Compensation:

$28 - $32 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Independently lead structured, high-energy coding and robotics classes for elementary and middle school students
  • Create and maintain a strong classroom culture centered on engagement, accountability, and effort
  • Manage classroom behavior and uphold program standards consistently
  • Adapt instruction and coaching style based on age group and student needs
  • Coach students through challenges while reinforcing character traits
  • Ensure classroom materials, structure, and environment are consistently prepared and maintained
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, families, and team members
  • Write student progress reports to clearly communicate growth and achievements with families
  • Ensure smooth execution of all Love to Code Academy systems and standards

Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to independently manage a classroom of students
  • Strong classroom management skills, leadership presence, energy, and ability to hold student attention in a classroom setting
  • Build a classroom environment centered on active engagement, collaboration, and completing projects
  • Experience working with children in educational or youth development settings
  • Ability to guide without over-instructing (coaching mindset)
  • Strong communication skills with students, parents, and team members
  • High level of responsibility, reliability, and initiative
  • Available for after-school, evening, and occasional weekend hours

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with coding or robotics tools such as Scratch, MakeCode, LEGO Robotics, or VEX Robotics
  • Experience working with kids (teaching, coaching, camps, tutoring, youth programs, STEM programs)
  • Experience with coding, robotics, or technology-based learning environments

About Company

Love to Code Academy is a youth character development academy built on a single belief: the most important thing students build here is not a program or a robot — it is character.

Through coding, robotics, and esports, students develop the traits that matter most in life — teamwork, persistence, integrity, confidence, and leadership. Technology is the environment. Character development is the outcome.
