Home Based Unlicensed Insurance Agent information

What is a home based unlicensed insurance agent?

A Home Based Unlicensed Insurance Agent is someone who works remotely, typically from their own home, to assist licensed insurance agents or agencies with tasks that do not require an insurance license. These tasks can include administrative support, appointment setting, customer service, data entry, and providing general information about insurance products (without advising on coverage or selling policies). Unlicensed agents are not permitted to discuss specific insurance policies, provide coverage recommendations, or complete sales, as those activities require a valid insurance license. Their role is primarily to support the sales process and assist licensed agents in managing their workload.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a home based unlicensed insurance agent?

To excel as a Home Based Unlicensed Insurance Agent, you need strong sales acumen, customer service skills, and a solid understanding of insurance products, though formal licensing is not required for lead generation or administrative support roles. Familiarity with CRM software, online communication platforms, and insurance quoting tools is beneficial. Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and effective time management are essential for building trust and managing a remote workload. These competencies are important for driving client engagement and meeting sales or support targets in a remote, regulated industry.

What are some common challenges faced by home based unlicensed insurance agents, and how can they overcome them?

Home based unlicensed insurance agents often face challenges such as limited access to direct mentorship, staying motivated without in-person supervision, and managing time effectively. They may also encounter difficulties in building client trust without a physical office. To overcome these challenges, agents can leverage virtual training resources provided by their agency, set clear daily and weekly goals, participate in online networking forums, and maintain regular communication with their supervising licensed agent. Being proactive in seeking feedback and staying up to date on industry regulations is also essential for long-term success.

Job description

Company Description Cornerstone Senior Services has been helping seniors and their families make informed decisions about health insurance, life insurance, and retirement solutions since 1995. As a subsidiary of Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company, founded in 1936, Cornerstone operates independently from any single carrier, allowing agents to offer options from multiple leading insurers. The company focuses exclusively on the senior market, including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplements, prescription drug plans, final expense and life insurance, and retirement products, using an educational, face-to-face approach. Cornerstone supports more than 100 field agents across multiple states by setting appointments so agents can focus on serving clients rather than chasing leads. Licensed agents and career changers receive guidance on licensing, comprehensive training, leads, and the independence of a 1099 role backed by a long-established organization.

Role Description This is a full-time hybrid Insurance Agent role based in Bowling Green, KY, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Insurance Agent will meet with seniors and their families in person and virtually to explain Medicare plans, life insurance, final expense products, and retirement solutions, focusing on education and informed decision-making. Daily responsibilities include reviewing client needs, presenting suitable insurance options from multiple carriers, completing applications, and following up to ensure a smooth enrollment process. The role involves managing a schedule of pre-set appointments, maintaining accurate client records, and staying current on product updates and regulatory changes. The Insurance Agent will collaborate with the Cornerstone team for training, lead management, and ongoing professional development while building a sustainable independent book of business.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Insurance Sales, with practical knowledge of Insurance products for the senior market.
  • Experience or familiarity with Insurance Brokerage, including working with multiple carriers and plan options.
  • Understanding of basic Finance concepts related to retirement solutions, premiums, and budgeting for clients.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, with the ability to build trust, listen actively, and explain complex information clearly.
  • Current life and health insurance license in Kentucky, or willingness to obtain one with company guidance.
  • Comfort with hybrid work: in-home and in-office client meetings, plus remote follow-up and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability in managing appointments, and attention to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license, reliable transportation for field appointments, and ability to work flexible hours based on client availability.
  • Prior experience with Medicare, senior insurance products, or sales is beneficial but not required; career changers are encouraged to apply.
