About the International Center for Language Studies (ICLS)
ICLS is a woman-owned, independent language institution based in the heart of Washington, DC. ICLSS has over 58 years of experience delivering high-quality language and cultural training in world languages to U.S. Government personnel, private-industry employees, and with job and talent needs analysis. Our ICLS assessment mission is to empower each person with valid and reliable language proficiency scores needed to thrive in a global environment.

The Language Proficiency Assessment Specialist is responsible for administering, evaluating, and documenting standardized language proficiency assessments in accordance with established testing protocols and proficiency rating criteria. Testers conduct structured interviews and performance-based assessments designed to measure an examinee's functional language ability across a range of communicative tasks and proficiency levels. Testers work collaboratively with other assessment professionals to ensure consistent application of proficiency standards and adherence to quality assurance procedures.

Requirements:
* Expertise in language proficiency assessment methodologies
* Strong interviewing skills
* Knowledge of and experience with the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) Skill Level Descriptions and/or ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines
* Experience conducting structured proficiency interviews (e.g. Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI), Department of State Foreign Service Officer Language Assessment, Department of Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT))
* Demonstrated experience profiling and rating language proficiency in high-stakes assessment environments
* Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills
* Ability to collaboratively work on a testing team (on Zoom and/or in-person)
* Intuitive attention to detail and innate ability to multitask
* Welcoming, empathetic, patient and calm nature that reads well both in a virtual setting and in-person environment
* Ability to seamlessly adapt to quickly changing situations
* Ability to maintain testing validity, reliability, and fairness throughout the assessment process
* Complete all online training provided by the International Center for Language Studies (ICLS)
Preferred:
* Master's degree, preferably in the field of languages or education
* Current or previous certification as an OPI Tester, OPIc Tester, or equivalent proficiency assessment specialist.
* Security Clearances (if applicable): public trust, secret, top secret (TS), TS/SCI
