Job description

Underground Utility Project Specialist

Completes and supports construction and field execution responsibilities for underground utility projects utilizing construction fundamentals and company best practice standards, processes, resources, and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Work on and visit project work sites, review scope of work, prepare cost estimates and proposals, and assist in management of the project including the permitting process.
  • Assist with the evaluation of projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings as well as monitoring compliance with contract documents.
  • Establish, monitor, update, communicate, and maintain project schedules utilizing Microsoft Project or other software programs.
  • Manage the preparation, review, tracking, and distribution of submittals and RFIs.
  • Assist the PM/PE to develop and implement strategies to self-perform and to outsource the various aspects of a project to achieve the projects objectives of price, schedule and quality.
  • Review subcontracts and purchase orders to help the PM/PE assure that all project goals are being addressed.
  • Proactively identify issues that could lead to problems and facilitate their solutions.
  • Participate in project progress meetings.
  • Assist the PM/PE to manage project costs to assure that budgets are maintained.
  • Document and manage changes in the work including design changes, specifications, and drawings and
  • Understand project status to secure the interests of the entire project team
  • Help prepare customer billings and related documentation as requested.
  • Assist in the project closeout process to assure timely completion

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Understanding and interest in Construction Career.
  • Prior wet utility contracting experience preferred.
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency including Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience in project estimating/management software (Bid2Win Suite, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Procore) a bonus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications and follow instructions.
  • Flexible with work locations depending on assigned projects.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally walk one continuous mile.
