Position Overview
Seeking a highly experienced Senior IT Project Manager to support strategic growth initiatives involving new healthcare facility construction, expansion projects, and large-scale operational and IT integrations. This role will serve as the primary IT Project Manager supporting high-visibility growth projects, partnering closely with Design & Construction (D&C) Project Managers to ensure successful delivery of all technology, operational, and business readiness components. The ideal candidate will possess strong healthcare experience, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence executives and cross-functional teams in complex, politically sensitive environments.
One of the primary assignments a highly visible executive-sponsored ambulatory care project that is redefining the patient experience through a concierge-style healthcare delivery model. Experience in both healthcare operations and growth/construction-related project environments is highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead IT and operational project management activities for healthcare growth, expansion, and new facility initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Design & Construction Project Managers to align schedules, dependencies, milestones, and go-live readiness activities.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, risks, issues, communications, and executive reporting.
  • Coordinate technology integrations including infrastructure, networking, Wi-Fi, systems, application readiness, and operational support functions.
  • Develop and maintain complex project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Facilitate governance meetings and executive-level project discussions involving senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Identify, track, mitigate, and escalate risks, issues, and project dependencies.
  • Drive accountability across cross-functional teams through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Prepare executive presentations, status reports, and project updates for IT leadership and governance committees.
  • Ensure successful coordination across multiple parallel projects that may impact critical project milestones and go-live dates.
  • Support transition and knowledge transfer activities from existing project leadership.

Required Qualifications
  • Executive presence and stakeholder management are absolutely critical.
  • Must be comfortable managing large governance groups and politically sensitive initiatives.
  • 10+ years of project management experience managing large, complex initiatives.
  • Strong experience leading enterprise-level IT projects within healthcare organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting healthcare growth initiatives, facility expansions, ambulatory care environments, or new site implementations.
  • Experience managing highly visible projects with significant executive involvement.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in matrixed organizations where influence is required rather than direct authority.
  • Strong risk management, dependency management, and critical path planning experience.
  • Expertise in executive communications, stakeholder management, and governance facilitation.
  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and PMBOK principles.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting healthcare construction, expansion, or facility activation projects.
  • Experience partnering with Design & Construction project teams.
  • Previous experience within a large health system, hospital network, or integrated healthcare delivery organization.
  • Familiarity with academic medicine environments.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience using ServiceNow Project Portfolio Management (PPM/SPM) tools.

Technical Environment
  • Microsoft Project
  • ServiceNow (PPM/SPM)
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • PowerPoint Executive Reporting
  • Enterprise IT Program/Project Management Tools

Success Profile
The ideal candidate will be:
  • Calm under pressure and able to navigate ambiguity.
  • PM will operate through influence, not direct authority.
  • Comfortable presenting to executives, senior leaders, and governance committees.
  • Highly collaborative with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Assertive and confident while maintaining professionalism and respect.
  • Skilled at influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • An exceptional communicator who can manage competing priorities and political sensitivities.
  • A strong critical thinker who can identify problems, evaluate options, and drive solutions independently.
  • Able to maintain momentum and accountability in complex, fast-moving environments.

Key Challenges
  • Managing a high-profile strategic healthcare initiative with extensive executive visibility.
  • Balancing competing stakeholder priorities and executive expectations.
  • Navigating complex project dependencies with minimal schedule flexibility.
  • Driving project execution within a politically sensitive environment while maintaining alignment across numerous stakeholders.
  • Supporting critical go-live timelines with significant operational and patient care implications.

Ideal Background
Candidates will likely come from organizations such as:
