Job description

Join DOF as our Marine Assurance Coordinator

The Marine Assurance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and executing marine assurance activities to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of company-owned and third-party marine assets. This role serves as a subject-matter expert in marine assurance, regulatory compliance, vessel inspections, and technical governance, ensuring marine assets maintain operational readiness, statutory compliance, and technical integrity throughout the planning and execution of offshore projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure assigned vessels remain compliant with applicable international regulations, Flag State, Classification Society, and company requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain the validity of statutory, class, and operational certificates, coordinating required surveys and inspections.
  • Support compliance with the ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, and the Company Management System.
  • Provide marine technical support to vessel crews, Operations, and Project Teams on day-to-day marine operational matters.
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of marine procedures, operating instructions, risk assessments, marine plans, method statements, and Management of Change documentation.
  • Participate in marine incident investigations, corrective action follow-up, and the implementation of lessons learned and best practices.
  • Provide marine technical support during the planning, mobilization, and execution of offshore projects, including coordination of Flag State and Classification Society approvals.
  • Review marine documentation, engineering modifications, and project specifications to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct on-hire and off-hire inspections of third-party vessels and marine assets to evaluate technical condition, certification, operational readiness, and project suitability.
  • Perform marine assurance reviews and vessel vetting activities for company-owned and third-party vessels, identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Coordinate client marine inspections and vetting activities, ensuring vessels, documentation, and personnel are prepared while managing the close-out of inspection findings.
  • Conduct periodic fleet assurance visits, monitor marine performance trends, and recommend improvements to operational reliability, compliance, and fleet readiness.
  • Maintain controlled marine documentation, technical records, inspection reports, certification records, and correspondence in accordance with company standards.
  • Monitor changes to marine regulations and industry requirements, advising stakeholders of impacts to vessel operations and projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by tracking marine assurance KPIs, promoting standardization, and implementing processes that enhance vessel safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in marine assurance, marine operations, offshore vessel management, or the offshore/marine industry.
  • Experience onboard offshore support vessels, construction vessels, or equivalent marine assets is required.
  • Prior experience in a marine assurance, technical, senior, lead, or specialist-level role supporting vessel compliance, inspections, or offshore operations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with Classification Societies, Flag Administrations, or marine assurance organizations is highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting vessel inspections, marine surveys, technical audits, or marine compliance assessments.
  • Experience supporting offshore projects, vessel mobilizations, and marine operational readiness activities.
  • Experience participating in client marine assurance, vessel vetting, or acceptance processes is preferred.

Is this the perfect role for you, but you don't meet every single requirement? We value the right person over a perfect match to a job description. Research shows that underrepresented groups are less likely to apply unless they meet every listed requirement, and we don't want that to hold great talent back, so we encourage you to apply. It's the best way for us to find the right talent for this role, or another, and that could be you.

Location:

This position will be based in Houston, Texas.

Application due date: 08.10.2026
