Job Title PT REFERENCE LIBRARIAN (Pool) Position Status Part Time Classification Title Part-Time Hourly-Up to 19 hpw Work Location Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX Job Summary
The Part-time Reference Librarian works in the Reference and Circulation departments of the Library, otherwise known as Access Services, to assist students, faculty, and the public with the use of information resources for instructional research. This position may require evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of one year working in a library or related setting
  • Experience with personal computers, photocopiers/scanners, library information systems, overhead projectors, and audio/visual equipment
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Self-directed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Library Science or Master of Library Information Science
Essential Functions
  • Provides reference assistance to library patrons in using books, journals, and other printed resources in the collection
  • Assist patrons with accessing databases, e-books, and e-magazines
  • Assists with searching library catalog for book holdings information
  • Circulation desk assistance
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The person in this position needs to move to other locations on campus occasionally
  • The person in this position needs to move throughout the library to assist students
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information

Security Sensitivity

Min Salary $18.00 per hour Max Salary $20.00 per hour Pay Statement Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
