Job description

Position Overview

The Physical Therapist position at Carilion Physical Therapy offers a unique opportunity for dedicated professionals to provide high-quality home care services to patients in the Chantilly, Virginia area. As a Physical Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and treating individuals recovering from injuries, surgeries, or various medical conditions in a comfortable home setting. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing effective treatment plans that facilitate recovery, enhance mobility, and improve patients' overall quality of life.

About the Organization

Carilion Physical Therapy is dedicated to delivering personalized, compassionate care to patients of all ages, from children to seniors. Our team of board-certified Physical Therapists collaborates closely to create a supportive environment where every patient receives tailored treatments that address their specific needs. We prioritize a holistic approach to wellness, ensuring that patients not only recover physically but also feel connected and engaged throughout their healing journey.

Work Environment

This full-time role is conducted onsite in patients' homes, allowing you to engage directly in their familiar environments. You can expect a flexible work schedule that typically falls between 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Working in home care provides an intimate understanding of each patient’s unique circumstances, enabling you to develop more effective, individualized treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough evaluations of patients in home care settings to assess their physical abilities and limitations following injury, surgery, or illness.
  • Design and implement comprehensive treatment plans that utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including exercise regimens, hands-on therapy techniques, and assistive equipment to alleviate pain and improve mobility.
  • Continuously monitor patient progress, document treatments, and adjust therapeutic goals and plans as necessary to ensure optimal rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on physical therapy procedures, assistive devices, and self-care strategies to encourage active participation in their recovery process.
  • Collaborate with health care team members to provide integrated care and support for patients, including communicating updates on patient progress and treatment plans.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in the field by attending workshops and participating in professional organizations to maintain professional licensure and enhance skills.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work with a diverse array of patients, catering to varied demographics and conditions. This includes geriatrics recovering from surgeries, young patients undergoing rehabilitation for sports injuries, and individuals with chronic pain conditions. Your approach will be crucial in not only addressing their physical needs but also their emotional and psychological well-being during rehabilitation.

Qualifications
  • A Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) and a valid state license to practice physical therapy in Virginia.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in physical therapy, ideally within a home care setting or outpatient facility.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey treatment plans and motivate patients.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills for documentation and treatment tracking.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the individual needs of patients across various scenarios.
Preferred Experience

While two years of experience is required, prior exposure to home care settings or mixed case management will enhance your ability to thrive in this environment. Familiarity with assistive devices and rehabilitation techniques is an asset, enabling you to provide specialized care.

Compensation and Benefits

The position comes with a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes a sign-on bonus, flexible work schedules, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plans with discretionary employer match, life and AD&D insurance, disability coverage, and generous paid time off policies. We also offer support for continued education and professional development.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Carilion Physical Therapy, we invest in our employees' professional growth. New graduates will receive mentorship, and experienced therapists are encouraged to pursue leadership roles within our organization. We promote continuous learning through workshops and access to the latest research in physical therapy practices, allowing you to advance your career while providing the best care to your patients.

Why Join Our Team

Joining Carilion Physical Therapy means becoming a part of a passionate, dedicated team that values every member’s contributions. You will enjoy a dynamic, supportive work environment enriched with opportunities to make a significant difference in patients' lives. Our culture of wellness promotes balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being, ensuring that our therapists remain healthy and fulfilled in their careers.
