Position: Protection & Control Technician I (P&C Tech I)
Location: 1810 Congressman Dickinson Dr., Montgomery AL 36109

Duration: 1 Year

Client: Alabama Power


Position Overview

The Protection & Control Technician I supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of protection and control systems used in power substations. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with foundational electrical knowledge seeking hands-on experience in utility and substation environments.

The position requires strong technical aptitude, the ability to interpret electrical schematics, and a commitment to safety and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Protection & Control Systems

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying systems
  • Install and program microprocessor relays and related control devices
  • Perform calibration and functional testing of protection relays
  • Support monitoring systems within substations

Field & Project Support

  • Assist assigned project leads with field assignments
  • Support development and maintenance of protection and control documentation
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and operating procedures

Equipment & Systems Exposure

Work with equipment including:

  • Microprocessor relays
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Sensors
  • Pumps and motors
  • AC and DC systems

Required Qualifications
