Job description

Beloit Health System is hiring Student Nurses to join our team in multiple departments including our Cardiac Stepdown and Med/Surg Units at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

  • Location: Beloit Memorial Hospital - Beloit, WI
  • Shift: All Shifts Available
  • Schedule: 7a-7p/7p-7a, may vary based on availability
  • Hours per week: Varied - Per Diem
  • Benefits Status: Not Eligible
  • Department: Med/Surg & Cardiac Stepdown Units
The Student Nurse will perform basic nursing care and skills learned and practiced in an accredited school of nursing and will assist with a variety of patient personal care or unit cleaning procedures to complement nursing practices. These functions are performed under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Job Duties:
  • Accurately assesses the basic physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Effectively demonstrates ability to assist professional staff in the delivery of patient care. Demonstrates ability to perform basic nursing procedures according to BHS policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates observations to designated nursing leader.
  • Accurately documents patient care per policy as demonstrated by periodic reviews.
  • Effectively reinforces patient teaching and involves family. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be currently enrolled and participating in a NN accredited school of nursing in their senior year (if in a conventional nursing degree). If it is a direct degree (ex. BS to BSN or BS to MSN), must be in final year, no more than 6 months prior to graduation. Must pass NCLEX or receive temporary nursing license within 6 months of graduating.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Requires the ability to perform simple math addition and subtraction as well as read and understand written material.
  • Must be CPR certified or certification eligible within six months of hire.
  • Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Must plan, prioritize, and respond to information in an appropriate time frame.
  • Personal protective equipment is required; such as gloves, mask, gown, and goggles, or face shield.
  • Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients.
  • Adhere to established hospital and Department of Nursing policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion which includes standing, walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Assists with lifting patients up to 50 pounds weight and pushing transport carts ranging in weight of 50-200 pounds.
  • Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires ability to see and hear at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Reporting Relationship: Registered Nurse, Clinical Manager, and Department Director.
