PROJECT ACCOUNTANT

Newcomb & Boyd, a multi-discipline engineering firm in Atlanta, Georgia is looking for a Project Accountant. The Project Accountant will support firm operations by managing projectlevel financial operations of the company. They will serve as a liaison to project leaders, clients, subcontractors, and other internal staff, organize and coordinate internal meetings and project efforts, and oversee special projects.

Position Description

The Project Accountant supports firm operations by managing projectlevel financial operations of the company. The Project Accountant serves as a liaison to project leaders, clients, subcontractors, and other internal staff; organizes and coordinates internal meetings and project efforts; and oversees special projects. They must be professional and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment. They must have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Project Accountant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, must be able to work under pressure at times, and will be able to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain projects in Unanet
  • Review proposal and contracts to ensure proper billing procedures
  • Timely and accurate billing for assigned projects
  • Manage accounts receivable and collections by monitoring AR aging reports and follow up on outstanding AR balances
  • Day-to-day general accounting assistance for designated business groups and expense report review
  • Monitor and follow up on unbilled job costs.
  • Monitor and follow up on Work InProcess balances
  • Lead efforts in project data integrity such as updated project and phase dates and other general reportable data
  • Understand and report to Studio leaders the key metrics on a regular basis
  • Lead regularly scheduled studio meetings to review status of projects and identify solutions
  • Assist with month-end close in reconciling assigned accountAssist as primary or back up to cash receipts, accounts payable, and/or expense reporting related responsibilities as assigned
  • Perform other like duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline.
  • At least  5+ years accounting experience
  • Experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry is a plus
  • Prior experience with Unanet A/E
  • Advanced analytical and Microsoft Excel skills (Word & PowerPoint, a plus)
