Job Summary

Manage the project engineering and detailed design phases and oversee engineering services across the project lifecycle for Generation Electric Projects & Construction projects. Apply project management principles during initiation, conceptual engineering, planning, detailed design, drawing submittals, constructability reviews, change control, product testing and acceptance, and transition to internal customers, ensuring optimum product performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead project engineering and detailed design phases, managing engineering services for Generation Electric Projects & Construction projects.
  • Apply project management principles during project initiation, conceptual engineering, planning, detailed design, drawing submittals, constructability reviews, change control, product testing, acceptance, and product transition to internal customers.
  • Develop engineered product scope and decompose it into a constructible project scope solution, achieving integrated project objectives and effective WBS definition.
  • Translate product scope into specifications using best engineering practices and industry standards, ensuring validation and control.
  • Manage quality of engineering contractor/Architectural Engineer performance to meet product quality standards.
  • Incorporate product risk management into design packages and drawings.
  • Use engineering standards and best practices to ensure optimum rate of return on product investments.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders (operations, AE's, SMEs, etc.) for highest project success.
  • Communicate engineering status, work performance, and relevant project information to the project management team, project team, and stakeholders.
  • Foster a proactive design optimization environment.
  • Select and utilize optimal engineering tools, techniques, and information management systems for engineering performance monitoring and control, quality testing, inspection, and measurement.
  • Apply project management tools, techniques, and information systems to advance the product and control engineering performance.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Develop and maintain Project Request for Information (RFI) logs.
  • Provide costโ€‘effective solutions and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime, to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Train, mentor, and lead other project engineers as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABETโ€‘accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in a utilityโ€‘based environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to plan safety into a comprehensive work scope.
  • Experience working in adverse conditions, including climbing and exposure to all weather.
  • Skills in coordinating, leading, and facilitating meetings.
  • Willingness to travel to support project goals.
  • Proficiency in project management principles, PMI / PMBOK standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of fossil power, hydro power, and/or renewable energy processes.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Capability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with electric transmission and distribution systems.
  • Experience at a generating station or major project group.
  • PMP certification (Project Management Professional).
Employment Details

Salary Range: $67,900.00 - $140,700.00
