Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bench Jeweler will have experience in jewelry repair, stone setting, polishing, and custom work. This role requires a keen eye for detail, precision, and craftsmanship to ensure the highest quality of fine jewelry repair and creation.


KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Perform jewelry repairs, including ring sizing, chain soldering, prong retipping, and stone tightening.
  • Set and secure various gemstones using prong, bezel, and channel settings.
  • Polish and finish jewelry pieces to a high standard.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control to ensure repairs meet Brown & Co standards.
  • Perform laser welding and soldering as needed.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and jeweler’s workstation.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to evaluate repair work and provide accurate estimates.
  • Work with custom jewelry designs and modifications as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently and delivered on time.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of bench jeweler experience (apprenticeship or formal training preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in stone setting, polishing, and jewelry repair.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong craftsmanship and precision in handling fine jewelry.
  • Tools & Equipment: Experience using laser welders, torches, lathes, and other jeweler’s tools.
  • Time Management: Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with sales associates and other jewelers.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with CAD/CAM jewelry design software.
  • Certification from a recognized jewelry school (GIA, JA, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a high-end jewelry retail or manufacturing environment.
