Job description

IAP World Services, an Intrepid Global Solutions company, is a recognized leader in Facilities Management and Operations in support of Defense, Intelligence, and National Security missions

Under a major Intelligence Community contract, IAP operates and maintains facilities, systems, and associated grounds across Virginia and Maryland. Services provided include comprehensive facility operations; project management for renovations, minor construction, and major equipment repairs; engineering, construction, and operations support; custodial and grounds maintenance services; environmental, safety, and occupational health support; food services; motorpool and logistics operations; and physical and technical security services.

As the High Voltage Electrician, you will support the installation, operation, and maintenance of mission-critical high-voltage electrical systems within a secure environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and continuous operation of electrical infrastructure that supports sensitive and classified operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-voltage electrical systems (typically 4,160V and above), including switchgear, transformers, breakers, relays, and power distribution networks
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mission-critical electrical infrastructure to ensure continuous, reliable operation
  • Interpret and work from complex electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Conduct testing, inspections, and diagnostics of high-voltage equipment in accordance with NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and applicable DoD/IC standards
  • Support planned outages, emergency power events, and restoration efforts with minimal impact to operations
  • Coordinate with engineers, facility managers, and security personnel in secure and controlled environments
  • Maintain accurate documentation, maintenance records, and compliance reports
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, arc flash requirements, and site-specific security regulations
  • Provide technical guidance or mentorship to junior electricians or technicians as required
  • Respond to after-hours or emergency calls as mission needs dictate

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a high-voltage electrician in industrial, utility, government, or mission-critical environments
  • Active Master or Journeyman Electrician license (state-recognized)

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Extensive experience with high-voltage systems, including substations, medium- and high-voltage switchgear, and power distribution equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and applicable federal standards
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-risk, high-reliability environments
