Job description

Job Title: Field Technician - High Voltage Testing (NETA Certified)
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Field Technician to perform high voltage electrical testing, inspection, and maintenance of power distribution systems. This role requires a current NETA certification and hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in the field, and committed to maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform acceptance, maintenance, and troubleshooting testing on high voltage equipment including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and cables
  • Conduct testing in accordance with NETA ATS/MTS standards and client specifications
  • Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, power factor test sets, relay test equipment, and TDR units
  • Interpret test results, identify deficiencies, and provide recommendations for corrective actions
  • Prepare detailed and accurate field service reports and documentation
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies
  • Interface with clients, engineers, and project managers to communicate findings and project status
  • Assist with commissioning and energization procedures
  • Travel to job sites as required (local and out-of-town)

Qualifications
  • Current NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV preferred)
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in high voltage testing or related electrical field work
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and components
  • Familiarity with NETA, ANSI, IEEE, and NFPA standards
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with relay testing and protective device coordination
  • OSHA 10/30 certification and NFPA 70E training
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to high voltage equipment
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and confined spaces when necessary
