What are high end nannies?

High end nannies are highly experienced childcare professionals who provide personalized care for children in affluent households. They often possess advanced training in child development, education, or related fields, and may be fluent in multiple languages or skilled in specific areas such as nutrition or special needs care. High end nannies are typically responsible for more than just basic supervision—they plan enriching activities, travel with families, and sometimes manage other staff. Their roles often require flexibility, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a High End Nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a High End Nanny, you need experience in childcare, a relevant certification (such as CPR/First Aid), and often a background in early childhood education. Familiarity with smart home systems, scheduling software, and child development tracking apps is typically required. Exceptional discretion, adaptability, and strong communication skills distinguish top candidates in this role. These competencies ensure the nanny can provide elite-level care, maintain household privacy, and seamlessly integrate into high-profile family environments.

What Does a High End Nanny Do?

A high-end nanny fulfills childcare duties for a celebrity or wealthy, high-profile individual who wants more than routine babysitting duties. As a high-end nanny, you typically get assignments through a special agency that trains its nannies on how to provide superior services and support to each child. This includes all sorts of personal enrichment, such as additional education in language, music, or athletics, as well as how to provide personal companionship for kids when their parents are away. High-end nannies often travel with their clients. This is not the same as a live-in nanny or an au pair, although these professionals may also work for wealthy clients and their responsibilities may be similar.

What is the difference between High End Nanny vs Private Childcare Provider?

AspectHigh End NannyPrivate Childcare Provider
CredentialsChildcare certifications, background checks, possibly CPR/First AidSimilar certifications, often with specialized training or early childhood education
Work EnvironmentPrivate homes, often with personalized routinesPrivate homes or dedicated childcare facilities
Employer & Industry UsageHigh-net-worth families, luxury householdsFamilies seeking professional childcare, sometimes with multiple children
Search & Comparison IntentHigh End Nanny vs Private Childcare Provider

While both roles involve caring for children in private settings, a High End Nanny typically provides personalized, in-home childcare for affluent families, often with specialized training. A Private Childcare Provider may work in similar environments but can include a broader range of professional childcare services, sometimes with additional educational responsibilities. The main difference lies in the level of personalized service and the context of employment.

What are the unique challenges of working as a high end nanny for affluent families?

High end nannies often work in fast-paced, demanding environments where expectations for professionalism, confidentiality, and flexibility are high. You may be responsible for managing complex schedules, traveling with the family, and adapting to specific parenting philosophies or household protocols. Collaboration with other household staff, such as chefs or house managers, is common, requiring excellent communication skills. While the compensation can be rewarding, maintaining boundaries and balancing the family's needs with your well-being can be challenging.

Job description

JACKSONVILLE, FL (NOCATEE: LOCAL CANDIDATES PREFERRED) - A private, high-level family is seeking an exceptional FULL-TIME NANNY / HOUSE MANAGER to support their 10-year-old daughter and maintain seamless household operations in a refined, long-term role. This position is ideal for a polished, career nanny who brings discretion, structure, and a calm, proactive presence, and who thrives in a high-trust, professional household environment.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 50 hours per week, with flexibility required. The child attends school during the day, with varying schedules from approximately 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 5:30 PM, depending on the day. The role requires adaptability to manage both morning routines and afternoon/evening transitions, as well as flexibility for additional coverage, including overnight care during family travel.

This role is a true nanny and household manager blend. Responsibilities include full-charge care focused on the child’s safety, development, and well-being, as well as planning engaging, age-appropriate activities, supporting academic responsibilities, and fostering independence and emotional intelligence. The nanny will manage school logistics, extracurricular activities, and daily routines while maintaining clear and consistent communication with the parents.

Household management is a key component of this position. The nanny will maintain a high level of organization throughout the home, assist with laundry and light housekeeping, manage household inventory and supplies, coordinate vendors, and implement efficient systems to ensure the home runs smoothly. Meal preparation is also required, including planning and preparing nutritious meals for both the child and family.

The home is located in Nocatee, a premier gated community in Jacksonville, offering a resort-style lifestyle with parks, walking paths, and excellent amenities. The household includes one calm and friendly 2-year-old Goldendoodle, and candidates must be comfortable with pet care, including feeding, walking, and general support.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in high-end private households and operates as a true partner within the home. They are highly organized, intuitive, and proactive, with the ability to anticipate needs and execute with excellence. Strong communication skills, discretion, professionalism, and the ability to balance independence with collaboration are essential.

Requirements include a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, a reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed), CPR certification, and comfort with swimming, as the home includes a pool. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and comfortable with a flexible schedule.

The family prefers candidates who receive an annual influenza vaccination. Compensation is $30+/hr commensurate with experience, paid via payroll on a weekly or bi-weekly basis + 10 PTO days & TBD on holidays provided. This is a long-term opportunity for a highly capable professional seeking a stable, high-trust role within an established household. Start date is May 18-26, 2026.
