Responsibilities

The Senior MSL is a field-based, scientific, and clinical expert who strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of the program. Key aspects of this role will include engaging in peer‑to‑peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translate into meaningful insight while serving as a therapeutic expert. In addition the role may engage in peer‑peer scientific and health economic discussions with relevant health care decision makers (HCDMs) and influencers within US public and private health care entities, including but not limited to managed care organizations (MCOs), specialty pharmacy providers (SPPs), pharmaceutical benefit managers (PBMs), integrated delivery networks (IDNs), at designated centers and other health care networks.

  • Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customer.
  • Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
  • Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters.
  • Identify, gather, and document field generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
  • Collaborate with field based Medical colleagues, appropriate Commercial colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share Medical insights in support of internal and external activities.
  • Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company/investigator sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external‑internal research communication.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers (HCPs)/investigators/health care systems/academic medical centers and treatment team members integrating scientific data including real world evidence into real life practice to meet customer needs.
  • Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and other key healthcare decision makers (HCDMs), communicating the health economic model and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary field-based resource to address questions related to these insights.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in health economic model design and effectively communicate complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner to diverse HCDM audiences.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of cost‑effectiveness models and budget impact models to support informed decision‑making and value discussions.
Requirements
  • MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, or equivalent degree highly preferred.
  • 2+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison required.
  • Clinical or related practical experiences in GI/Liver preferred.
  • Strong scientific & clinical acumen.
  • Ability to quickly understand & translate complex scientific data & realize the potential impact of that data on clinical practice & potential research needs.
  • Experience in Managed Care/PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes.
  • Ability to travel up to 60%, overnights and weekends may be required, and possess a valid driver’s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $200,000-$220,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include a company car or car allowance and eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and/or individual performance.

The benefits for this position will include a competitive compensation package, health benefits to include medical, dental and vision, company match 401k, flexible paid time off (PTO) and sick time. Because certain states and municipalities have regulated paid sick time requirements, eligibility for paid sick time may vary depending on where you work.
