JOB SUMMARY

Highmark Health is seeking a Director Data Science R&D to pioneer the introduction of new analytical approaches and transform complex data into actionable insights. You'll be a catalyst for change, collaborating with senior leaders to implement data-driven strategies aligned with the Quintuple Aim. Join our dynamic Advanced Analytics group and unlock your potential to revolutionize healthcare through innovative data science.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform management responsibilities to include, but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity. Plan, organize, staff, direct and control the day-to-day operations of the department; develop and implement policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority.
  • Develop and deliver the vision, strategy, development, and coordinate execution of Highmark Health's data science capability. Be our main subject matter expert for data science methodologies, and advise colleagues on their correct application, and drive innovation within our data science community. Keep up to date with developments in the field of data science, and lead the coordination of technology partners and advanced analytics colleagues to ensure our data science teams have access to and are using most appropriate tools and resources, in the present and longer-term. Represent Highmark as a healthcare industry leader in the field of advanced analytics internally and externally.
  • Represent the entire Advanced Analytics group as the number one stakeholder for Highmark's analytical data products, ensuring our data colleagues are supplying us with the most relevant, highest quality features and that all feature engineering / data exploration done with our group is fed back to the data teams to be productionized and made available to everyone.
  • Oversee delivery of novel data science use cases, which do not meet any of our existing patterns. This includes working with reports to partner with the business to understand their need and requirements, design a solution, introduce any necessary adaptations in our processes to deliver that solution, and drive implementation and adoption by the business. It also includes generalizing the use case, and maturing it into a data science pipeline (where appropriate).

EDUCATION Required
  • Doctorate degree in STEM, Health Services Research or related field OR Master’s Degree in STEM, Health Services Research, Business or related field with 7 years of relevant work experience

  • 5 years in Management and/or Leadership role
  • 3 years of Consulting and/or working with Senior Leaders

Pay Range Minimum:

$126,400.00

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
