As of Aug 16, 2026, the average yearly pay for heirship in the United States is $87,509.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $72,000.00 and $107,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is heirship?

Heirship refers to the legal right of an individual to inherit property, assets, or titles from a deceased person, typically when there is no valid will in place. In cases of intestacy (when someone dies without a will), the laws of heirship determine who qualifies as an heir and how the estate is distributed. The process and specific heirs can vary depending on local or state laws, but generally include close relatives like spouses, children, parents, or siblings. Heirship is an important concept in probate law and can affect how assets are transferred after someone passes away.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an estate heir, and why are they important?

To thrive as an estate heir, a solid understanding of estate law, asset management, and financial literacy is essential, often supported by legal consultation or relevant financial education. Familiarity with accounting software, trust management tools, and estate planning systems is typically beneficial. Strong decision-making, discretion, and communication skills help heirs navigate family dynamics, legal processes, and stewardship responsibilities. These competencies ensure responsible management and preservation of inherited assets, as well as smooth transitions during estate settlements.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals specializing in heirship determination?

Professionals working in heirship determination often encounter challenges such as navigating complex family dynamics, interpreting ambiguous legal documents, and ensuring compliance with state-specific inheritance laws. They may need to conduct detailed genealogical research and verify documentation to accurately identify rightful heirs. Working closely with attorneys, courts, and sometimes mediation specialists is common, requiring strong communication and analytical skills to resolve disputes and clarify legal uncertainties.

What is the difference between Heirship vs Probate Clerk?

AspectHeirshipProbate Clerk
Required credentialsLegal knowledge, sometimes certification in estate lawLegal or administrative background, often paralegal certification
Work environmentLegal or estate planning firms, courts, or government agenciesCourts, legal offices, government agencies
Employer and industry usageEstate planning, inheritance, legal estate transferLegal proceedings, estate administration

Heirship involves determining rightful heirs to an estate, often in estate planning or inheritance contexts. Probate Clerk handles the administrative process of validating wills and overseeing estate settlement in court. While both roles relate to estate transfer, Heirship focuses on identifying heirs, whereas Probate Clerk manages legal documentation and court procedures.

Job description

Senior Sales Strategist (Commission-Based)

THE ROLE:
Lauth Investigations is seeking a high-performance Senior Sales Strategist to serve as the elite escalation point for high-value or highly skeptical claimants. This role is designed for a confident, results-driven professional who bridges the gap between initial outreach and successful asset recovery. You will step in when claims have stalled, re-establishing trust and guiding complex cases to a successful resolution.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE:
This is a 100% commission-based position offering significant earning potential for high-level closers.

  • Commission: 20% of the company's earned fee on all successfully recovered claims of $50,000 and above.
  • No Cap on Earnings: Your income is directly tied to your ability to re-engage claimants and close complex cases.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Case Re-Engagement & Escalation Management

  • Review stalled or unresponsive claims to develop strategic re-engagement plans for hot, warm, and cold leads.
  • Serve as the senior voice of authority to address skepticism, compliance concerns, and objections.
  • Take full ownership of high-value "Complex Claim" campaigns.

2. Strategic Research & Verification

  • Conduct targeted research to confirm claimant identity, heirship, and asset linkage using verified databases.
  • Collaborate with genealogists and internal research teams to ensure the defensibility of claims.

3. Advanced Outreach & Closing

  • Re-establish communication using a consultative, trust-based approach.
  • Convert hesitant prospects into signed agreements through clear explanation of contingency agreements and legal requirements.
  • Guide claimants through the execution of legal documents to ensure timely recovery.

4. CRM & Process Integrity

  • Maintain meticulous documentation of all outreach efforts within the CRM.
  • Identify objection patterns and recommend improvements to the sales cycle.

IDEAL PROFILE:

  • Self-Starter: Thrives in a performance-based, independent environment.
  • Persuasive & Analytical: Able to use data and research to build a logical case for the claimant.
  • Persistence: A "never-give-up" attitude toward stalled leads.
  • Trust-Builder: Quickly establishes rapport with high-net-worth individuals and skeptical heirs.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of experience in asset recovery and inside sales.
  • Demonstrated Closer: Proven track record of managing complex objections and closing high-ticket deals.
  • Executive Presence: Strong communication skills with the ability to project credibility and authority.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfort working with CRM systems, investigative databases, and public records.
  • High Ethics: Absolute commitment to transparency and ethical contingency-based recovery.
